Kalenjin

Oral tradition was and still is very important among the Kalenjin. This is through stories, songs, proverbs, and riddles which in turn preserves their culture
Popular cuisine unique to the Kalenjin is a special beverage known as ‘Mursik’. This consists of fermented whole milk that has been stored in a special gourd, cleaned by using a burning stick. The result is that the milk is infused with tiny bits of charcoal.
Sports is a major interest point among the Kalenjin especially the youth. The most widely known sport among the Kalenjin being long distance marathons

The Mijikenda are known for the preservation of their traditional religion.Each of the Mijikenda groups has a sacred forest, a kaya, which is a place of prayer. Eleven of the approximately 30 kaya forests have been inscribed together as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Sacred Mijikenda Kaya Forests
Mijikenda people are also known for creating wooden kigango funerary statues which have been displayed in museums around the world and sold in the international art market.The ‘vigango’ and koma are erected after someone's death, to honour them.
The preservation of their culture and beliefs is attributed to how they have incorporated the myth of their origins, as well as a description of their kaya-based, stratified social structure, into a written record of their culture, which is passed on to their children.
Mijikenda dancers perform their exhilarating dances in various events today, attracting both domestic and international tourists in festivals celebrating the coastal cultures

The Abasuba are settledmostly in the Rusinga island which they named. During the Rusinga festival the Abasuba people showcase their culture in efforts to preserve their way of lives.
Subas were traditionally involved in rain Making sacrifices such as animal sacrifices to appease the gods and clan spirits Suba District. These were carried out in special shrines which can still be found across Suba such as Utende, Kwitutu, Mungusa and Kiboye Shrines.
Suba people also practiced rock art which can be found in the caves of Kwitone in GulweMfangano.
