A Brief of TFO Canada and KEPROBA Buyer Mission 2024 to be held in April/May 2024

This is a continuation of the successful collaboration between KEPROBA and TFO Canada to implement the Women in Trade project (funded by Global Affairs Canada). The buyer mission aims to enhance buyer-seller linkages thereby contributing to growth of exports in the priority sectors.

The project seeks to enhance the participation of women exporters from Kenya and increase the contribution of women-led micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to the export market. With a focus on inclusive growth and sustainability, this initiative is set to make a lasting impact on the global trade landscape.

Objectives

The mission aims to connect Canadian and European buyers with SMEs in Kenya, focusing on the following categories: Fresh Produce, Coffee, Tea, Dried Fruits, and Nuts.

Organizer: Kenya Export Promotion and Branding (KEPROBA) in partnership with TFO Canada.

Timeline:    The mission is planned to take place in April/May 2024

Location: The event will take place in Nairobi, Kenya.

Planning Activities

  1. Preparatory Sessions with SMEs:

A one-on-one consultation with the MSMEs has already been conducted through a preparatory meeting held in January 2024.

        2. Selection of MSMEs:

KEPROBA will review and pre-select 40 MSMEs based on their export readiness. A final selection of 25 enterprises will be undertaken by TFO Canada. The selected SMEs will receive coaching sessions from the expert representing EU and Canadian market in readiness for the buyer mission.

Expected Outcomes:

The mission is expected to foster business relationships between Kenyan SMEs and international buyers from Canada and Europe, thereby increasing the number of women participating in international trade and promoting exports.
