Kenya Shines at Expo 2025 Japan with National Day Celebration and Vibrant Flower Activation

In a powerful showcase of national pride and cultural elegance, the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPROBA) led Kenya’s National Day of Honour celebrations at Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, with a colorful fusion of culture, diplomacy, and floriculture.

Held at the Kenya Pavilion, the National Day was a flagship event within the larger “Kenya Week” and drew dignitaries, international delegates, and visitors from across the globe. The celebrations were not only a statement of Kenya’s global presence but also a tribute to the country's heritage, economic potential, and creative spirit.

Ms. Floice Mukabana, CEO of KEPROBA and Commissioner General for Kenya at the Expo, described the event as “a defining moment for Kenya to reaffirm its identity as Africa’s gateway to opportunity.” She noted that the Day of Honour was a chance to spotlight Kenya’s investment climate, cultural assets, and globally acclaimed exports.

“Our National Day is not just a celebration, it is a declaration that Kenya is ready to connect, trade, and partner with the world. Through our flowers, music, food, and people, we are telling a compelling story of a modern, ambitious, and vibrant Kenya,” said Ms. Mukabana.

A standout moment was the “Flower Activation” a live display and artistic installation featuring Kenya’s world-famous roses and ornamentals. The activation transformed the Kenya Pavilion into a living garden, drawing admiration from visitors and dignitaries alike. The display, curated by top floriculture brands in collaboration with KEPROBA, served as both an aesthetic statement and a strategic promotion of Kenya’s thriving flower export industry.

Kenya is currently the leading exporter of cut flowers to the European market, and the activation aimed to position the country as a key supplier to the Asian and Pacific markets as well. The Japanese public, known for their appreciation of floral art, engaged enthusiastically with the installations, offering a unique gateway into potential trade relationships.

Alongside the flower activation, the National Day programme featured traditional music and dance, culinary tastings of Kenyan cuisine, and B2B sessions between Kenyan and Japanese stakeholders. Government officials used the opportunity to advance discussions on trade, tourism, and cultural diplomacy.

Visitors left the Kenya Pavilion with not only an appreciation for Kenya’s natural beauty and creativity but also a deeper understanding of its economic resilience and global ambition.

The success of the National Day of Honour and flower showcase at Expo 2025 reaffirmed KEPROBA’s central role in projecting Brand Kenya globally a brand rooted in authenticity, excellence, and opportunity.
