Invitation To Participate In The Upcoming European Union Deforestation Regulations (Eudr) Sensitization Webinar On 21st March 2024.

The International Trade Centre (ITC) in Collaboration with the EAC secretariat is organizing a webinar on 21st March 2024 to sensitize stakeholders about the upcoming European Union Deforestation Regulations - EUDR which will take effect on 30th December 2024.

MARKUP II aims at strengthening Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises-MSMEs’ export competitiveness by enhancing value addition and diversification and by promoting business to the regional and international markets, the identification of market regulations (e.g. EU, regional African country markets), current and foreseen requirements in areas of environment (climate change, deforestation, carbon emissions etc.) as well as social criteria.

The objectives of the webinar are: To shed light on the main components of EUDR, its origin, and the context of the EU Green Deal, discuss the main elements of EUDR implementation and the core concepts, among them benchmarking, due diligence obligations and geolocation of all plots of land.

Participants in the workshop will include policymakers, the private sector, and experts and will be invited to share best practices and insights on how to achieve deforestation-free global value chains and meet the requirements of the EU market.
